WHO AM I?

Hello to everybody! My name is Marta Ruiz, and I am a student of primary education, but I am specifically studying to become an english teacher. I would like to make you know me a little better to know who I really am and why I am here, writing this post. Why I make the decision of studying this degree and dedicate my whole life to this profession, my great passion.

I was born in Vila-real some years ago, and if you know Vila-real you should realize that the most spoken language in my village is valencian; but I am a special case there, because part of my family is from Jaén and the other hand from Teruel, so, as is expected, my family is spanish speaker. Valencian does not occupy a very important part in my life, I just speak it at school, high school and university, just because I have been all my life in schools whose target language is Valencian. Another curious fact is that all my group of friends speak valencian, but, even though I fully understand valencian and I can speak in this language practically perfect, they speak valencian among them and when I am in the conversation or they speak with me they tend to change to spanish.

On the other hand, I would like to mention English, this is my favourite language since I was little. When I was in the kindergarten I was already attending english lessons, I watched cartoons, sang a lot of songs, and make very funny activities, everything in english. I started enjoying english even before being able to speak my mother tongue well. I have always wanted to become a teacher, I used to play with my little siblings and all my dolls pretending that I was the teacher and they were my students with a little blackboard that my parents gave me, I liked to teach them what I have learned at school. But it was when I started to receive private english lessons, at the age of eight more or less, when I focused myself in the english language, when I realized that what I wanted to do in the future was teaching english to children, and it meant for me to do the two things I liked the most since I was little, to be with children and to teach them english. That sounds very good, right? To have the possibility to do everything you like at the same time.

I feel very proud of all the decisions I have made throughout my life, those experiences that I have lived that have made me as I am now and that I want to dedicate myself to the teaching of a language, not any one, but one with which I feel identified since it has been present throughout my life and has offered me many choices, has allowed me to travel to different countries and learn more, to know new cultures and make new friends, but specially for being such an important part of my life and my identity.
